The Quarantine Division is responsible for the protection of Fiji’s Agriculture sector from the introduction and spread of pests and diseases affecting plants and animals (and environment) and access viable markets and ensure compliance of Fiji’s Agro exports to market requirements to promote economic growth and food security.
 
 
 
FQIDis part of the Fiji Ministry of Agriculture & Primary Industries.
FQID’s 100 employees provide quarantine inspection for international passengers, cargo, mail, animals, plants and animal or plant products arriving in Fiji, and inspection and certification for a range of agricultural products exported from Fiji.
FQID’s import and export inspection and certification in essential to maintaining Fiji’s highly favorable animal, plant and human health status and access to export markets. Quarantine controls at Fiji’s borders also minimize the risk of exotic pests and diseases thus protecting Fiji’s agriculture sector and environment.
Export inspection and certification contribute to Fiji’s, horticulture, forestry, meat, poultry and live animal export worth millions a year.
FQID work with partnership of other Departments within the Ministry and other stakeholders and trading partners to gain, improve and maintain market access for agricultural commodities, and FQID participates in international forums to develop policies and standards for trade in Agro products
